Whitehawk Enclosure Prehistoric Open Day:

ASE invited members of the public to visit one of Britain's oldest and most mysterious ancient stone age monuments at Whitehawk Enclosure, Brighton.

During the days activities the archaeology of the hill was brought to life to show the public ways in which they could get involved in archaeology in the City.

Activities included:

* An excavation to participate in
* Displays of stone tool and ancient poetry making
* Metal Detecting
* Tours of the ancient site
* Explorations of the modern wildlife of the hill.
* Wild Food
* Bushcraft
* Archaeological techniques.

 

Displays were also be held by Brighton and Hove Archaeology Society, Sussex University; Brighton and Hove Ranger Service; and the Sussex Archaeological Society.
