Town and Country in Roman Essex
A study of the economic and social impact of Iron
Age and Roman towns on the settlement landscape of
south-east Britain, based on the re-assessment of
archaeological finds (pottery, animal bone and small
finds) from a series of key sites excavated in Essex
and the surrounding region. A key purpose of the project
is to develop new methodologies and approaches in
using archaeological data.

Aggregates Extraction and Management of the Historic Environment
One of the three benchmark reports commissioned by English Heritage, to review and disseminate the results of all heritage research projects funded by the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund (ALSF) between 2002 and 2007. The report reviews the impact that projects aimed at developing techniques, standards, and best practice guidance have had on the aggregates industry, and on archaeological curators and practitioners responsible for managing the historic environment in both marine and terrestrial contexts.
