Hadrian's Wall
World Heritage Site Management Plan

Project type: Site Management Planning

Kirsty Norman (Site Management and Interpretation) has recently started working with the team at Hadrian's Wall Heritage Ltd, as Editor of the Management Plan for this World Heritage Site, due to be published at the end of this year. Having done dissertation work on the management of the Wall during her MA, it's a welcome chance to return to this fascinating part of England.

This will be the third Hadrian's Wall WHS Management Plan, with the Wall now forming part of the larger transnational WHS site, “Frontiers of the Roman Empire”. Hadrian's Wall has been held up as an exemplar in planning for large and very complex sites, and Kirsty says that this plan will move the science forward once again, in its detail, its tackling of practical issues, and its transparency with regard to process and the challenges of managing such a large site.
