Excavation and Fieldwork

There is much more to archaeology than digging, and we try to achieve as much as possible without needing to disturb and damage the archaeological remains themselves.   Fieldwork is, however, our main way of collecting new information about the past.   It also offers an opportunity to involve students and local communities in our work.

Archaeology South-East has undertaken many hundreds of fieldwork exercises, ranging from surveying projects through to full-scale archaeological excavations.
